In the case of a defense and recourse claim, if the third party involved is not identified, we will unfortunately not be able to cover the damages.
The defense and recourse guarantee covers you when a third party causes physical or property damage to you or a person insured under your policy.
If this happens :
You report the loss to us, and we assess the amount of your damage,
We make a claim to the third party's insurance for this amount,
When we receive the compensation, we pay it to you (and the third party pays their deductible directly to you).
👉 If the third party who caused the damage is not identified, we cannot make recourse to their insurance. Therefore, it is impossible to make the defense recourse coverage work.
For example :
If someone bumps into you at a restaurant and your phone falls and breaks, we cannot cover the damage if we have no way to contact that person and their insurance company.
☝️ That's why it's crucial to take the contact information of the people involved and their insurer in the event of an incident : it will allow us to pursue recourse, so you can be compensated.
On the other hand, if you cause damage to another person, remember to leave your contact information and the mail firstname.lastname@example.org. This way, their insurer will contact us.
